AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) -- Maine's special deer hunting season for people who hunt with muzzleloader rifles is getting started across the state.
The muzzleloader season begins on Monday and ends Dec. 12. The first week of the season is open around the state. The season is restricted to 14 wildlife management districts from Dec. 7 to Dec. 12.
The state says hunters should review hunting guidelines before hunting. There is no hunting on Dec. 6.
Dec. 12 is also the final day of the expanded archery season for deer, which is open in some urban areas around the state.
