MAINE, USA — The northern lights made a rare appearance over Maine Friday night, lighting up the skies in an awe-inspiring cascade of colors.
The northern lights, aurora borealis, is a natural light display caused by solar wind. It's typically visible in high-latitude regions of the world, like Antarctica. But on Friday, the aurora was visible all over the world due to a massive solar storm.
