BREWER, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A new cafe and bakery in downtown Brewer is set to have its grand opening on Friday and during the grand opening, the owners plan to give back to the people who helped make the business possible.
Alison Keane is a Mainer through and through, she has always wanted to open, a small business and recently decided to take her love of baking to the next level.
"I've had a lot of people ask me if I have culinary education which I don't but I've eaten all my life and it's just been a hobby it was nothing no formal training" said Keane
Keane said she is tired, she's only had one day off in the last six weeks - but works through the long days -along with the support from her family - and her staff and the desire to succeed
"You just have to know that eventually it's gonna pay off and be patient in the mean time and work hard and have a little faith I guess" said Keane.
Friday they will be donating 25 percent of sales as well as proceeds from a silent auction to the non-profit Bangor SCORE which Keane said helped her in the early stages
"They offer free mentorship to aspiring entrepreneurs and aspiring small business owners they offer mentorship resources seminars and its all either free or low cost" said Keane.
And she said shes hoping she can help small businesses be a big deal in Brewer.
"I want people to realize that downtown Brewer is a cool little space...I wanna bring awareness to the city and encourage people not only to buy local but as far as the way they eat to eat just you know, eat logically" said Keane.
And with some eggs, sugar and some TLC she is well on her way.
Logical Sip Cafe and Bakery will be open from 6:30 a.m. Friday.
All items from the silent auction were donated by other small businesses in Brewer.
