LITCHFIELD, Maine — The Kennebec County Sheriff's Office is investigating a rollover crash that sent a Litchfield man to the hospital with serious injuries Tuesday night.
Officials from the sheriff's office responded to Huntington Hill Road in Litchfield shortly after 7 p.m., the sheriff's office said Wednesday in a press release. Witnesses reported a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and later found an SUV rolled over in a ditch, with the driver ejected from the vehicle, according to the release.
The driver, 46-year-old Michael Cummings of Litchfield, was driving a 2009 GMC Acadia. Officials say alcohol and speed appear to have been factors in the crash. It is unknown if he was wearing a seatbelt.
The driver was transported to Maine Medical Center in Lewiston by Gardiner Rescue with "severe injuries," the release stated. He was later flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Cummings' vehicle was towed by AC towing.
The crash is being reconstructed by Deputy Jordan Gaudet, the sheriff's office said.
