BRADLEY, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife say a Lincoln man was rescued after being lost for 24-hours at a campground in Bradley.
At approximately, 12:30 p.m., on Saturday, 69-year-old Ronald Freelove of Lincoln, Maine was found safe by Jake Letendre from MESARD and his K-9 Reese after twenty-four hours in the woods.
Freelove was reported missing by his son Keith Freelove after his father left their camp on the Kingsbury Road in Bradley, at approximately 12:45 p.m., to go for a walk through the woods. They were supposed to meet back up by 4:00 p.m.
Freelove stayed mobile during the night. He tried to use his lighter to make a fire but it did not work. He lost his hat, which had a compass pinned to it and his second compass was lost after his lanyard caught on a bush dragging the compass from his pocket along with a whistle and pair of gloves.
The father used all his ammo to try and signal for help throughout the night. He was found about three-quarters of a mile from where he started. Medical personnel from Milford Rescue and Old Town ambulance were on hand to make sure he was okay.
