Lewiston Police searching for suspect in Saturday shots fired incident

Lewiston Police seized two firearms after executing a search warrant Saturday night in relation to the incident.

LEWISTON (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- Police in Lewiston are searching for a suspect in relation with a shooting on College Street on Saturday morning.

Police responded to the 100 block of College Street just before 11 a.m. Saturday for a report of several gun shots being fired at a passing vehicle.

Lewiston Police seized two firearms after executing a search warrant Saturday night in relation to the incident.

The Lewiston Police Department,worked with the ATF Central Maine Violent Crime Task Force and FBI Safe Street Task Force.

"Our detectives have been working tirelessly all day," said Lt. Dave St. Pierre. "We're grateful for the people coming to help us."

Police do not believe the shooting was random, but still encourage the public to be diligent of their surroundings and personal safety.

Police said a 60-year-old pedestrian was treated for what he reported to be a gunshot wound to his leg.

Police do not believe the injury was the result of the reported gunfire, and do not believe the pedestrian was directly involved in any altercation or had any involvement with this shooting incident. A parked vehicle in the area, not related to this incident, was also struck with gunfire.
