Auburn hit-and-run crash suspect also accused in car dealership vandalism

Lewiston police responded Tuesday to a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Main Street and Canal Street.

LEWISTON, Maine — A man from Auburn is facing charges in connection with an alleged hit-and-run crash, just days after he allegedly vandalized 75 vehicles at a car dealership.

Lewiston police responded around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Main Street and Canal Street, the department said Wednesday in a social media post.

One vehicle fled the scene and proceeded to crash into more vehicles, according to police. That vehicle was then located on Lisbon Street, but the driver fled, police said.

The driver was quickly arrested and identified as Skyler Henson, 25, of Auburn, who was also arrested by Auburn police last weekend for allegedly causing up to $90,000 in damage to 75 vehicles at Rowe Auburn.

Police said Henson caused the damage by swinging a heavy backpack at the vehicles. Most had damaged windshields. He was initially held on $5,000 cash bail in connection with that incident, but the presiding judge lowered his bail to $150 and he was released.

Henson was again taken into custody in connection with the crash in Lewiston on Tuesday and charged with the following:

  • Driving to endanger
  • Operating after suspension
  • Leaving the scene of a personal injury crash
  • Violating conditions of release
