AUBURN, Maine — Police have identified the man who died after a pickup truck struck a tree in Auburn Wednesday night.
At approximately 8:15 p.m., Auburn Police and Fire responded to a crash located in the area of 405 Merrow Road, according to a news release from the Auburn Police Department.
Police determined a 2012 Ford pickup truck driven by a 24-year-old man from Boynton Beach, Florida, struck a tree while traveling westbound at a high rate of speed. The driver had reportedly lost control of the truck while braking.
The front passenger, Aaron Kirk, 29, of Porter, Texas was thrown from the vehicle and died from his injuries, police said.
A second, 17-year-old passenger of Mobile, Alabama, was also injured in the crash. The 17-year-old and driver were both taken to Central Maine Medical Center for treatment. They were later released.
Auburn police are reportedly reconstructing the crash. No charges have been filed at this time, police said.
