Several children injured in Minot school bus crash

Emergency officials responded to the crash scene to assess and care for the students, RSU 16 Superintendent Amy Hediger said.

MINOT, Maine — Several children were injured in a school bus crash in Minot Tuesday morning.

It happened shortly after 8 a.m. as the bus was transporting Minot Consolidated School students to school, RSU 16 Superintendent Amy Hediger said in a social media post.

Hediger said the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office told her the bus went off the road into a ditch about a half-mile from the school.

Several children were injured, according to Hediger, but she did not elaborate on the severity of their injuries. NEWS CENTER Maine reached out to the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office for more information but has not yet heard back.

Emergency officials responded to the crash scene to assess and care for the students, and their families were contacted by the school district, the post stated.

"School staff were present to offer support as the students were safely transported back to school," Hediger said. "United Ambulance is continuing to monitor the children at school, ensuring that all children receive the care and attention they need."

Minot Consolidated School serves students grades K-6.
