AUBURN, Maine — A 17-year-old boy from Lewiston died Monday morning in a crash on Turner Road in Auburn.
Auburn police and fire crews responded to the scene of the crash around 7 a.m., the police department shared in a news release posted at 12:30 p.m. on their social media page.
Early crash investigation shows that the teenage driver of a Subaru Impreza veered off the roadway and landed about 50 feet down an embankment, according to the department. The teenager died at the scene.
Police said speed and distraction were believed to have contributed to the fatal crash, which was being reconstructed as part of the investigation.
The driver's identity was not being released at this time, according to the department.
