Lewiston police investigate two reports of shots fired Tuesday

In one of the incidents, parked cars were struck by gunfire. In the other, bullet holes were found in a nearby porch. Police have not said whether they're connected.

LEWISTON, Maine — Lewiston police are investigating two shooting incidents Tuesday night within two hours of each other that resulted in property damage.

The first was reported around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Ash Street and Howe Street, the department said Wednesday in a social media post.

Police said surveillance video from the area appeared to show two males firing a handgun down Howe Street in the direction of Pine Street. Two parked vehicles were struck by gunfire, but no injuries were reported, according to the post.

The second shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. in the area of 116 Pierce St., the post stated. Several witnesses reported hearing gunshots, and investigators located "numerous shell casings" in the area, police said.

Officials also said they found bullet holes in a nearby porch, according to the release. Police said they plan to review surveillance footage and collect evidence in connection to that incident.

Police have not said whether the two shootings were connected.

Lewiston police asked that anyone who may have information contact Detective William Rousseau by email at wrousseau@lewistonmaine.gov.
