LEWISTON, Maine — Lewiston Fire Chief Brian Stockdale has resigned from the Lewiston Fire Department effective October 27.
Interim City Administrator Heather Hunter announced the resignation in a press release.
According to the press release, Stockdale has been chief since June 2017.
"During this time, I have had the privilege of working alongside some of the most dedicated and courageous firefighters and colleagues who strive every day to provide the highest level service to the residents of the City of Lewiston," Stockdale said in the release. "This has not been an easy decision for me or my family, but I believe that now is the right time to move on to the next chapter of my life and pursue other opportunities. I appreciate the opportunity I was given to serve this community and want to thank all of those who have supported me."
Hunter thanked Chief Stockdale for his service and wished him the best and announced Lewiston Assistant Fire Chief Mark Caron as interim fire chief.
