LEWISTON, Maine — Community members enjoyed a fourth year of the Lewiston Riverfest, highlighting the city's waterfront and the activities it has to offer.
The two-day event was held Friday and Saturday in the Simard-Payne Memorial Park and along the Androscoggin River.
On Friday, attendees were able to jump into a game of cornhole, a whoopie pie eating contest, listen to live music, and more.
Saturday's event allowed attendees to relax along the waterfront and enjoy a regatta held at the event with the help of the Lewiston Rowing Club.
Attendees could also rent a canoe and paddle the racecourse after races were over to then offer suggestions for a new event for next Riverfest's regatta.
Organizer and member of the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce Brian Pickard said the event highlights a lot of what Lewiston has to offer in one space.
"In order for something like this to go off as well as it has this weekend, it takes a village," Pickard said. "Taking all of these activities that would normally kind of happen on their own, and rolling them into something special here in the community just seemed like a great opportunity we couldn't pass up!"
