Lebanon girl gets taxidermy dream

LEBANON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — A nine-year-old from Lebanon celebrated her dream come true on Sunday.

Madison MacNutt has Benign Hyper Mobility Joint Syndrome, according to her mother Sheila Fucile. Madison frequently dislocated her joints. Her mother says "her tendons are like overstretched rubber bands."

Sheila said Madison feels pain every day and can be in bed for days at a time, unable to move.

"Our whole lives revolve around Madison's treatment," said Fucile. "I wish I could fix it. I wish I could change it. I wish I could take the pain on for her, because no child should have to ask for assistance to get out of bed in the morning."

After years of doctor's appointments, Madison's dream of studying animals became a mission for the Dream Factory chapter in York County. The non-profit organization has chapters in 37 states, including another Maine chapter in Portland.

Madison's wish, was something organizer Pat Cloonan had never heard before.

Madison asked for a cabin filled with taxidermy animals. One of Madison's favorite TV shows is "North Woods Law," and as part of her wish, she got to attend a Portland Sea Dogs game on "North Woods Law" night with two Wardens from York County.

"We get more satisfaction out of it than the kids do I think," said Cloonan.
