IDEXX unveils new building

ID=11558349WESTBROOK, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- What began as a small start up company 30 years ago has grown to having 6,000 employees across the world. IDEXX Laboratories, a global leader in diagnostic testing and software for pet and farm animal health care, just keeps growing.

The company officially unveiled a new $35 million dollar addition at its world headquarters in Westbrook earlier today. Dozens of employees, community leaders, Governor Paul LePage, Congressman Mike Michaud and Congresswoman Chellie PIngree helped the cut the ribbon to IDEXX's $35 milllion dollar 'Synergy' Center Friday.

The gold LEED certified Center houses 240 new employees and features a state of the art Wellness Center. There is also a health care clinic where employees can get free health care during business hours. There is a gym, cafe, and floating conference rooms, modeled after Google's corporate headquarters. Altogether, IDEXX's world headquarters has 2,100 employees. CEO Jon Ayers says the company is growing at almost 10% a year.

"We think that growth will accelerate in future years to double digit for the company as a whole in terms of revenues. When you are growing your revenues through innovation supporting a good growth market, you need more employees," said CEO Jon Ayers.
