MILTON, N.H. — A hunter from Maine was located in New Hampshire on Sunday after losing his way back to his truck.

Dale Sanborn, 83, of Lebanon, Maine, was reported missing by family members around 10:30 p.m. Saturday after he set out hunting in Milton, New Hampshire, around 4 p.m., according to a news release Monday from New Hampshire Fish and Game.

Fish and game conservation officers, along with officials from the Milton fire and police departments, responded to the area to search for Sanborn. He was located at 1:30 a.m. Sunday a short distance from his truck on Branch Hill Road in Milton, the release stated.

Sanborn had no injuries, but he was fatigued and cold, officials said. He told officials he had climbed down from his tree stand as it started to get dark on Saturday and got disoriented on his way back to his parked truck. He saw lights and called out to searchers, resulting in his rescue, according to the release.

"Outdoor enthusiasts are encouraged to purchase a Hike Safe card. The card helps support Fish and Game search and rescue activities," the release stated.
