Hannaford reports network issue impacting website, pharmacies, stores

"Our teams are taking steps to assess and mitigate the issue," Hannaford said in a Nov. 14 update. "We will continue to take actions to further protect our systems."

MAINE, USA — Hannaford Supermarkets says a network issue is impacting its website, pharmacies, and some stores.

"We're working diligently to resolve the issue with minimal disruption," the company said Nov. 7 in a social media post. "Meanwhile, our stores remain open for business."

In an update on Nov. 14, the company said, "Our stores are open, serving customers, and well-stocked. At this time, our investigation is ongoing. Our teams are taking steps to assess and mitigate the issue. We will continue to take actions to further protect our systems. The security of our customers, associates and partners is a top priority. We will share relevant updates as appropriate."

Customers outside of Hannaford on Broadway in Bangor say they are feeling the impacts of the issue.

"I went in to pick up a prescription for my daughter and I got a phone call that my prescription was ready, but it must have been an error because they couldn't fill it because they didn't have internet to look up the prescription, and they couldn't call  another pharmacy to fill it because they had no internet," Erin Foster, a customer at Hannaford, said.

According to Hannaford, some pharmacies are unable to accept phone calls. They are advising customers to visit their local pharmacy to fill their prescription need.

"Its a little frustrating because I'll have to call her doctor's office now and get it sent to another pharmacy, and who knows when or where that'll get filled?" Foster said.

In an update on Nov. 8, the company said recovery efforts were still underway for the network issue.

"Our stores are open and most stores are accepting all major forms of payment, including credit cards," the company said on social media.

The company said its website is still impacted by the network issue, resulting in Hannaford To Go orders for pickup and delivery being cancelled Friday because employees cannot view orders that have been placed.

"Customers with cancelled orders may continue to see a pending transaction on their bank account, which should clear within several days," the company said.

Hannaford has stores in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, and New York.
