AUGUSTA (NEWS CENTER Maine)-- A week after Shawn Moody won the Republican primary for Governor, Maine’s former Republican candidates joined forces to cheer Moody on.
They stood outside the State House with Republican legislators and Governor Paul LePage, as Mike Thibodeau, Ken Fredette, Mary Mayhew and Garrett Mason all buried the political hatchet said promised strong support for Moody.
They said he is the best person to continue the policies of Governor Lepage. Moody himself praised his former opponents aas well as the Governor’s record, and said he would work to keep it ging.
“That’s the goal of this campaign, to move Maine forward on the foundation Governor Lepage and Republicans have laid,” Moody said.
Democrats, meanwhile, continue to criticize Moody for wanting to follow the Governor’ s economic policies. Democrats are waiting for their own candidate for Governor---Janet Mills or Adam Cote… to be decided by the ranked choice vote count.
