Freeport woman 2nd in Maine history to receive CAP award

AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — A Freeport woman was the recipient of the Civil Air Patrol's highest honor Saturday.

Olivia Fowler received the Carl A Spaatz award in Augusta.

Only the 2nd woman in Maine's history to win the award, Fowler had to go through a difficult four-part test to qualify.

She was surrounded by her peers and her family for the presentation.

Minutes after the award presentation, we asked Fowler how it felt to receive this award.

"This is a representation of so much hard work," said Fowler. " And I'm so proud to have finally achieved this goal. I was proud!"

Fowler also says she loves planes and hopes to one day work for Space X.
