Fire sparks at Calais IGA and hardware store

Both businesses plan to assess the damage and decide when they'll reopen.
Fire closes two businesses in Calais.

CALAIS, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Two businesses closed Sunday in Calais after a fire sparked just before noon time.

The fire broke out at Johnson's True Value and Bell's IGA on North Street. The Calais Fire Department was assisted by several surrounding towns including fire departments from Canada.

NEWS CENTER was told one of the firefighters was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion but is expected to be okay.

Both businesses plan to assess the damage and decide when they'll reopen.

The cause of fire is under investigation.
