PORTLAND, Maine — Crews in Portland fought a fifth-floor apartment fire at 645 Congress Street into the early hours of Thursday morning.
The fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. Firefighters were able to put it out quickly.
According to someone who lives in the building, a sprinkler went off in the fifth-floor corner apartment.
The four apartments below sustained water damage. All residents of the building were evacuated so the fire inspector could make sure the building was safe to reenter.
