Fire destroys Domino's Pizza, closes Rte. 302 in Windham

WINDHAM, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --

Route 302 is open again in Windham after a fire tore through a Domino's Pizza

No one was injured or hurt in the fire which broke out around 3:30PM Thursday.

Firefighters say it was likely caused by a cigarette butt that was improperly disposed of.

Most of the restaurant is intact but the front was severly damage.

It's owner has insurance, plans to rebuild and will allow all of his 20 employees to work at another of his Domino's locations until the shop is rebuilt.

Windham Fire Chief, Brent Libby says weather conditions Thursday were favorable for a fire like this to happen.

"It's a challenge for us, everything in the area is dry., we haven't had a lot of rain so that certainly makes it a problem."

Firefighters have no reason to believe the fire was suspicious,
