LAGRANGE, Maine — The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a person died in a single-vehicle crash in Lagrange on Sunday morning.

Penobscot County deputies and the Lagrange Fire Department responded to a reported single-vehicle crash on Medford Road around 9:40 a.m., according to a Facebook post from the sheriff's office.

A sedan traveling on Medford Road "lost control on the snow and ice packed roadway," overturned, and landed in Cold Stream—a shallow stream below that runs under the road.

"Cold water rescue located a deceased individual inside the vehicle and deputies located a second individual who escaped from the vehicle," the sheriff's office said in the post.

The investigation is ongoing. No other information is available at this time.

Bradford, Alton, and Milo Fire Departments also assisted at the scene.
