PENOBSCOT COUNTY, Maine — The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office is investigating a crash into a body of water in Carroll that resulted in the death of one person.
The sheriff's office said in a Facebook post it received reports on Friday at approximately 9:30 p.m. of a vehicle that had gone off the roadway and into a body of water in the area of 2445 Main Rd. in Carroll.
The driver was the only person inside the vehicle, according to the sheriff's office.
"Citizens at the scene made several attempts to assist and provide medical aid to the operator," the post stated.
The person's identity will not be released pending next-of-kin notifications.
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and Accident Reconstruction Team reportedly investigated the incident.
