Mother and daughter found dead at Farmington business

Maine State Police are assisting Farmington police with the investigation.

FARMINGTON, Maine — A mother and her daughter were found dead at a business in Farmington on Wednesday.

Police were called to Pawsitive Dog Kennel located at 274 Red Schoolhouse Rd., where they found the bodies, according to a news release from Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss.

Both bodies were reportedly brought to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where autopsies were performed on Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as 76-year-old Jean Robinson and 53-year-old Allison Cumming, both of Farmington, Moss said. Both women reportedly lived on the property in a separate building.

The cause and manner of their deaths is not being released at this time. Moss said there is "no known immediate threat to the public."

Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit Detectives, Farmington police, and Franklin County Sheriff's deputies investigated the incident. Officers were searching the area with K-9s throughout the day on Thursday.

Those with information regarding the incident are asked to call the Farmington Police Department at 207-778-6311.

Jody Cook, who is friends with the homeowner, said she was "crushed" and "anxious" to find out what happened there.

"I sent [the homeowner] a message and a text, and usually she’s pretty quick about getting back to me about it, and I have had nothing come back," Cook said.

One nearby resident said this area has always been a quiet place to live.

"At lunch time [on Wednesday], I went up and there were all kinds of cruisers up there, not knowing what went on," Greg Morin said.
