Eighteen-year-old local student dies in Chester crash

Police said a second person was brought by LifeFlight to a Bangor hospital.

CHESTER, Maine — A single-vehicle crash in Chester resulted in the death of an 18-year-old Thursday morning. 

The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office and Lincoln Ambulance and Fire responded to the crash in the area of 722 South Chester Road shortly after 10 a.m., according to a news release from the sheriff's office. 

Deputies said two female occupants were involved in the crash, including an 18-year-old local student who was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The identity of the 18-year-old will not be released at this time, deputies said. Her family and school were reportedly notified. 

The other female occupant was reportedly brought to the Penobscot Valley Hospital, then to a Bangor hospital via LifeFlight. 

Deputies said the cause of the crash is still under investigation at this time. 

The sheriff's office was also assisted by Maine State Police in this case.
