CLINTON, Maine — State police are investigating the death of a driver on Interstate 95 after they collided with another vehicle, lost control, and hit a tree Monday evening in Clinton.
At about 5:45 p.m., troopers responded to a crash on I-95 at mile marker 138 northbound in Clinton, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a news release.
An initial investigation revealed a tan 2009 Ford Fusion traveling northbound in the passing lane had passed a white 2020 Ford Escape that was in the travel lane. As the driver of the Ford Fusion passed the Ford Escape, they quickly changed lanes in front of the Ford Escape and collided with the vehicle, the release stated.
As a result of the collision, the driver of the Ford Fusion lost control and went off the right side of the roadway, overturned, and collided with a tree, the release said.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Moss said their identity is not being released at this time until family has been notified.
The driver of the Ford Escape was not injured.
The crash is still under investigation.
