Death of seasonal Cushing resident under investigation

CUSHING, Maine — The death of an 83-year-old seasonal Cushing resident is under investigation. 

The Maine Marine Patrol and Knox County Sheriff's Office are investigating the death of 83-year-old Donald McBeth of Vero Beach, Florida, who is also a seasonal resident of Cushing, after his body was found on the shore near Gaunt Neck Road in Cushing, according to a news release from the Department of Marine Resources. 

Maine Marine Patrol was notified that McBeth was missing around 7 p.m. on Friday after he failed to appear at a family gathering, the release stated. 

McBeth's body was found by local fire and EMS personnel around 8 p.m., according to the release. He was pronounced dead at the scene. McBeth's body was brought to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner. 

The Maine Marine Patrol, Knox County Sheriff's Office, and Maine Warden Service assisted with the search.
