CATHANCE TOWNSHIP, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- According to police, Christopher Stevenson was not supposed to be driving in the crash that killed his daughter.
The 45-year-old man from Roque Bluffs has a suspended drivers license. Despite his restricted status, police said Stevenson was behind the wheel late Thursday night when his car veered off Route 191 in Cathance Township and hit a tree.
Stevenson's 11-year-old daughter was a passenger in the car. Police said she died at the scene.
Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff's Office issued a summons to Stevenson on a charge of operating after suspension. Police said they are investigating to learn the cause of the crash.
