Fire at Yarmouth residence under investigation

Crews responded to the blaze just after 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

YARMOUTH, Maine — A fire at a Yarmouth residence is under investigation after crews responded Saturday afternoon. 

Just after 4:30 p.m., Yarmouth Fire Rescue received a call for a house fire at 17 Mill St., according to a Facebook post from the department. Fire Chief Mike Robitaille told NEWS CENTER Maine the Mill Street residence is a two-unit apartment building. 

Crews from multiple agencies responded to the scene. Once all occupants were out of the building, crews worked to put out the fire. 

One individual was brought to a hospital for "minor smoke inhalation," the post said.  

Robitaille said six people were displaced by the fire. 

Crews from Cumberland, Falmouth, North Yarmouth, and Durham reportedly assisted at the scene, and Yarmouth police helped with traffic control. 

The fire remains under investigation at this time.
