PORTLAND, Maine — A Hebron man was found guilty Wednesday of being a felon in possession of firearms after investigators reportedly found hundreds inside his residence.
During a two-day trial in U.S. District Court in Portland, presented evidence revealed Maine State Troopers found "hundreds of firearms, including shotguns, rifles, pistols, and revolvers, and a large amount of ammunition" inside 75-year-old Dario Giambro's home while executing search warrants in Jan. 2022, a news release from the U.S. District Attorney's Office, District of Maine said.
Giambro was previously convicted of possession of an unregistered firearm, the release said.
He now faces up to 10 years in prison, up to a $250,000 fine, and up to three years of supervised release. Giambro is expected to be sentenced after a presentence report has been completed by the U.S. Probation Office.
"The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Maine State Police investigated this case, with assistance from the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office and Norway Police Department," the release said.
