UPDATE 11/14 8:30 p.m. – Crew members of the Aaron & Melissa II had to abandon ship after taking on water, the Coast Guard said in a release Wednesday.
According to the USCG, the 76-foot fishing vessel's captain radioed watchstanders at about 7:45 a.m. The fishermen were located and a swimmer deployed from a helicopter hoisted all four to safety.
The aircrew landed at Brunswick Executive Airport where they were met by emergency personnel.
All fishermen were reportedly in good condition, the Coast Guard said.
Weather was reported to have been 20-foot seas, 30-knot winds and 50-degree water temperature.
The Coast Guard's response included an HC-144 Ocean Sentry and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter.
ROCKLAND (NEWS CENTER Maine) — Four people are safely on dry land after the U.S. Coast Guard rescued them from a life raft after their boat started taking on water.
The Coast Guard says the fishing boat was 60 miles off the coast of Rockland when crews responded to save the four boaters Wednesday morning.
