PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The holiday season is about family and giving. For kids it's also about... well... Presents. The families at the Barbara Bush Childrens Hospital at Maine Medical Center, the season got an early start.
It's called Breakfast with Santa. It's a chance for the kids here to hang with the Kringle and open gifts an entire day early. For 7 year old Stephen Campbell, well... he'll tell you he's 8, it doesn't get much better than this.
Stephen got just what he wanted-- a radio controlled helicopter. But that's not all he wished for this Christmas. He wanted to go home to be with his family. You see, Stephen had a kidney transplant in July. His body started to reject the organ which is why he's here. He has been awaiting some test results which would tell him when he could leave.
On Christmas Eve, finally, the tests came in. Stephen's mom says, he's going home.
