DEDHAM, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Some pretty big changes are in store for the Camp Capella family. Located in Dedham, Camp Capella is a summer camp for children and adults with disabilities.

They offer a multitude of programs from day camp, to overnight camp. Some activities include swimming and boating and no camper is turned away if they are unable to pay.

The camp uses donations to help with a multitude of costs to keep the camp going.

Recently Camp Capella announced two big changes. The first, after several years of planning they are expanding. They recently broke ground to create a road and a parking area.

Next summer they will be building two seasonal cabins . The cabins will allow for an additional 70 campers. They will also be building accessible nature trails that both campers and the community will be able to use.

This will enable the camp to cater to more children and adults. Another big change, Camp Capella's executive director will be retiring after nine years of service in the begining of November.

“I can't begin to tell you how important this place is for our children with physical and intellectual disabilities. We create memories for these kids that last forever. That's Camp Capella. Nothing more universal, acceptance of people’s differences then what you'll find here” said Dana Mosher who is the retiring Executive Director of Camp Capella.
