Her father, 26-year-old Rodney Alexander, has been charged with aggravated assault. He made his first court appearance Monday afternoon.
Prosecutors say Alexander had an arguement with his wife and when the baby started crying, he snatched her from the crib and her head snapped back. They say he then started shaking the baby and when he put her down, her head struck the crib. Police say the child is in critical condition.
In court Monday, prosecutors said the baby will likely have permanent brain damage. Rodney is in the navy. He's been stationed at the Brunswick Naval Air Station for the past five months.
