(NEWS CENTER) -- The United States Department of Agriculture recently released its annual survey of Food Security in U.S. Households, and the results show an escalating hunger problem in Maine.
Maine now ranks 12th in the nation and 1st in New England for food insecurity, which is a rapidly growing problem as families struggle to get nutritious food throughout the year and the Brewer Area Food Pantry is in critical need of donations.
The problem surrounding hunger in Maine is continuing to grow, and food assistance programs are critical in ensuring more people don't go hungry.
The Brewer Area Food Pantry will be holding a food Drive on October 30th and 31st at Save-A-Lot in Brewer. They will be collecting donations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
