HAMPDEN, Maine — Officials in Hampden are investigating a death after a woman's body was discovered on the shore of the Penobscot River Sunday afternoon.
At about 4:15 p.m., Hampden Public Safety received a report about a deceased female on the shore of the Penobscot River near Hughes Brothers Construction, the department said in a social media post.
Local police and fire personnel responded to the scene, along with watercraft from the Bangor Fire Department, the post said.
Officials said the body was recovered and taken to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta.
"The death does not appear to be suspicious," the post stated.
The investigation into the death remains ongoing.
