PITTSFIELD, Maine — A body was found on the Maine Central Institute campus Tuesday morning.
The body was found by the school's maintenance team when they reported to work, Maine Central Institute spokesperson Brayden Rollins said in a news release. The maintenance team called 911 and emergency services responded, according to the release.
Police have indicated there is no threat to the school community or campus, the release stated.
Maine Central Institute is a private academy and serves as the secondary school for the towns of Pittsfield, Burnham, and Detroit, Maine. The school's enrollment includes day students from many additional Maine communities, and boarding students from six states and 23 countries, according to its website.
"This is a very tragic occurrence, and our thoughts and condolences are with the individual’s family," Rollins said, adding the Pittsfield Police Department was investigating the person's death.
