One Man Dead After Shooting In Biddeford

Police tell NEWS CENTER they are investigating the shooting as a homicide.

BIDDEFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Maine state police are investigating a shooting in Biddeford that left one man dead. It happened at an apartment on West Cutts Street Monday morning.

Police identified the victim as 30-year old Jonathan Methot. Crystal Hitchcock lives right across the street. She says investigators came and spoke with her.

Police tell NEWS CENTER they are investigating the shooting as a homicide.

“They were looking for two black males one with dreads. I think I know who they're talking about but I don't know them by name. I've seen them hanging around the past couple of weeks but I don't know them,” said Hitchcok.

Police are not saying much about the investigation at this point. They have blocked off a couple of areas around the duplex where this happened. The building is at the end of a dead end street and abuts a railroad track.

This is the second fatal shooting investigation to rock this neighborhood in the past couple of years. A little more that 2-years ago there was a double homicide, two people shot and killed a block away on Western Avenue. Police eventually caught up with the suspect in New York.
