Vehicle crashes into Bangor Denny's, multiple parked vehicles

Police were called to the crash at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. No injuries were reported.

BANGOR, Maine — Crews in Bangor responded to Denny's on Sunday after a vehicle crashed into the building "hard enough to knock the plates off a table inside," along with multiple parked vehicles.

First responders were called to the scene on Haskell Road at approximately 10:30 a.m. after a vehicle crashed into the Denny's restaurant building, according to a news release from the Bangor Police Department

While attempting to park, the driver reportedly stepped on the gas instead of the break and hit the building. The driver then reversed direction, turned, and stepped on the gas again, impacting four parked vehicles, police said. One vehicle was reportedly occupied.

No injuries were reported in the incident. Police said structural damage was done to the front of the building, and several of the vehicles were towed from the scene due to damage.

Denny's remained open for the day. Police said vehicle damages are estimated to cost several thousand dollars, and the cost of building damages is not currently available.
