Smyrna man faces arson charges after fire set in Bangor Walmart

The fire broke out around 5:45 p.m. in the men's clothing department, prompting emergency officials to respond.

BANGOR, Maine — A man from Smyrna is accused of arson after a fire broke out Friday evening at the Walmart in Bangor. 

Lucas Landry, 44, has been charged with arson and was brought to the Penobscot County Jail, where no bail has been set due to a probation hold, according to a news release from Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss. 

Landry was also charged with violation of probation. 

The fire broke out around 5:45 p.m. in the men's clothing department, prompting emergency officials to respond. 

Landry, who was arrested at his home Saturday afternoon, was already on probation for burglary when he was arrested, Moss said. 

The fire was investigated by the Bangor Fire Department with aid by the Maine Fire Marshal's Office, according to a release by the Bangor Police Department, which said firefighters there were able to extinguish the blaze. 

The investigation remains ongoing.
