Carl Bruce Farnsworth, owner of Pat's Pizza in Orono, has died

Bruce, also known as "Pat Junior," was the son of C.D. "Pat" Farnsworth, who started the business in 1931.

ORONO, Maine — Carl Bruce Farnsworth, owner of Pat's Pizza in Orono, died Monday.

"Bruce leaves everyone with many fond memories in the restaurant," Pat's Pizza Orono said in a social media post Monday. "He enjoyed working behind the counter, talking with customers, and teasing with the kids."

Also known as "Pat Junior," Bruce was the son of C.D. "Pat" Farnsworth, who opened Farnsworth Cafe in Orono in July 1931. The cafe originally sold ice cream and confections but later expanded to sell pizza, hence the name change. Orono is home to the original Pat's Pizza, and there are now more than a dozen locations across Maine.

C.D. Farnsworth died in 2003 at age 90, according to Pat's Pizza's website.

Pat's Pizza Orono said a celebration of Bruce's life would be held in the spring. The restaurant is also planning a charity car show in Bruce's honor, as he was a car enthusiast.

"The Farnsworth family appreciates all the love and support from all of you," the restaurant said.
