BANGOR (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- The Bangor Mall has a new tennant. A local business is purchasing the former Macy’s department store.
Owner Kathy Harvey says Furniture, Mattresses, & More is a brand new business that is currently under renovation and should open at the end of June or early July.
Harvey says they are planning on having 20 employees at the new store.
“This store is for every budget,” Harvey said. “For college kids who need an inexpensive futon to a couple who wants a high-end leather. So, this should be able to hit everyone’s budget. And the words 'And More' is because we are going to have a lot of home goods.”
Harvey says despite recent reports on financial difficulties at the mall, they did their homework and she says "we wouldn’t have purchased the space if the Mall didn’t have some other great things coming out soon."
She says she hopes people get behind buying local because they will have something for everyone.
