Enfield man accused of assault at Camp Hope in Bangor

BANGOR, Maine — An Enfield man is facing charges after he reportedly assaulted another person last week in Bangor.

Bangor police said Thursday in a news release that 22-year-old Christopher Campbell was arrested at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at Camp Hope on Cleveland Avenue.

Police described the area as a homeless encampment located near the Hope House shelter.

Police said they have been seeking Campbell since Saturday, Aug. 24 after a report indicated he had assaulted another person with a weapon on Aug. 23 while they were both at Camp Hope. Campbell allegedly fractured several bones in the victim's face.

"Campbell was located in a tent at the site, taken into custody, and transported to the Penobscot County Jail," the release stated.

He was charged with Class B aggravated assault, Class E unlawful possession of schedule drugs, and probation violation.
