BANGOR, Maine — A man from Hermon was arrested Wednesday after allegedly backing into a vehicle at Best Buy in Bangor and leading police on a chase down Interstate 95 southbound.
Bangor police responded to the Best Buy parking lot located on Bangor Mall Boulevard for a report of a man who had backed into another person's vehicle in the lot and tried to leave, the Bangor Police Department said in a news release.
Police found 64-year-old Everett Buzzell of Hermon in his vehicle in the parking lot, who denied being involved in the incident, police said.
"While the initial officer had Buzzell’s license and registration to complete paperwork, Buzzell drove away, pursued by the second officer to respond," police said in the release.
Police pursued Buzzell's vehicle southbound on I-95 at speeds between 60 and 80 mph. Buzzell's vehicle came to a stop near the Hammond Street overpass on the interstate after being boxed in, according to police.
"Officers had to break out windows of his vehicle to remove Buzzell and take him into custody," police said.
Buzzell was arrested and charged with misdemeanor offenses of leaving the scene of an accident and resisting, according to police. He was brought to the Penobscot County Jail.
