HAMPDEN, Maine — Fire crews responded to a house fire at 1264 Carmel Road North Thursday morning.
The call came in shortly before 7 a.m., Hampden Deputy Fire Chief Jason Lundstrom told NEWS CENTER Maine.
There was heavy smoke coming from the building when Hampden fire crews arrived, and mutual aid was called in from Newburgh, Hermon, Carmel, Levant, and Northern Light EMS, Lundstrom said. There were no hydrants nearby, so mutual aid provided tankers of water to help fight the flames.
The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and nobody was injured, according to Lundstrom. The house was heavily damaged.
Officials from the Office of the State Fire Marshal are investigating.
