BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — Community members came together on Tuesday in Bangor at Eastern Maine Medical Center to celebrate the opening of the new Penobscot Pavilion.
The building features 7 different levels of health care services in a newly designed, more modern concept.
Everything from the main lobby to the cardiovascular surgical units have been redone. The hospital overhaul also includes a new neo-natal intensive care unit that includes 29 new private rooms for babies and their families.
Officials said they've excited about this project.
"I have been working on this project for four years, and it means a lot to make sure that our patients and our families have the facilities that they deserve," said Vice President for Support Services at EMMC Helen McKinnon.
The new addition opens to patients on June 7.
