NEWPORT, Maine — Maine State Police are investigating a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian on Interstate 95 in Newport.
Troopers responded to the crash around 2:15 p.m. on I-95 south near mile marker 157. The incident occurred as a worker from Northeast Paving was placing cones on the highway for an evening paving project, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a release.
"A tractor-trailer, carrying recycled paper, struck the construction vehicle, causing the worker identified as 24-year-old Charles Miller of Enfield to be thrown from the truck," Moss said.
Miller was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for treatment of injuries not considered life threatening.
The driver of the tractor-trailer Boureima Dicko, 38, of Allentown, Pennsylvania employed by JT Freight Inc. of Des Plaines, Illinois was not injured in the crash, according to Moss.
In addition, the driver of the construction vehicle was not injured.
One lane was closed as both trucks were towed from the scene, and the crash was reconstructed.
