Car crashes into Bangor storefront, police say

The driver said they experienced a "mechanical issue," according to police.

BANGOR, Maine — Bangor police are investigating after a car crashed into Vibes Café on Tuesday afternoon.

First responders arrived at 663 Hogan Rd. just after 3 p.m. to assess the incident, the Bangor Police Department said in a news release.

"Vibes Café suffered damage after a car was driven into it," the release stated. "The driver of the vehicle stated they believed the car suffered a mechanical problem and police are investigating."

Police said there were no charges at this time and did not release the driver's name.

The cost of damages to the cafe and car was not immediately available, according to the release.

Bangor police and fire personnel responded to the scene.
