BANGOR, Maine — Four people were injured in a two-vehicle crash early Thursday morning at the intersection of Broadway and Kenduskeag Avenue in Bangor.
The crash, which happened around 4 a.m. was considered serious and led to road closures in the area that lasted several hours.
Broadway was closed between Pushaw Road and the intersection of Griffin Road and Burleigh Road, Bangor police told NEWS CENTER Maine, and Kenduskeag Avenue was closed outbound at Griffin Road.
Police told NEWS CENTER Maine at 9:15 a.m. that it would be a while until the road reopened. By 3:30 p.m. Broadway had reopened to traffic.
The collision is believed to have been caused when the driver of a car was entering Broadway from Kenduskeag Avenue and apparently traveled into the path of a truck, which then hit the car, Sgt. Jason McAmbley said Thursday afternoon in a news release.
The crash is being reconstructed by Bangor police. Police said speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
No charges have been filed, and the identities of the people involved in the crash have not been released. Their conditions were also not released.
